Fallen Angel ~ The Conclusion

The tornado barreled toward May. There was no way to outrun it. As she fell to her knees, she heard the bells ringing in the village, telling people to take shelter. Her sister, April, had made it. She and the townspeople would be safe.

May smiled, bowed her head and began to pray. She did not pray for herself, instead she prayed for her sisters, that they would find happiness. She prayed for Emerald, Diamond and the other angels that they would find a way back into Heaven. She prayed that the townspeople all remained safe.

The wind whipped at her back as her ears popped. She looked up at Thunder, he had an evil smile on his face.

May smiled back, not an evil smile, but a smile of love. "Dear Lord, I pray for Thunder. I pray that he sees the errors of his ways and make amends. Please help him to find true love in his heart, for his fellow and angels, but mostly for himself. And lastly, dear Lord, I pray that my soul is the only one taken on this day. Amen."

She closed her eyes and waited for the darkness, but instead of the tornado getting louder and her world getting darker, she felt a tremendous warmth as a sharp beam of light caressed her face.

"I have heard your prayer. Rise my daughter."

May squinted against the bright light as she got off her knees. As her eyes adjusted to the light, she saw all the angels bowed down. As the light dimmed and May could see a flame burning in its center.

"Do not be afraid my child," said the flame. "No harm will come to you. I have heard your prayer and have come to answer it."

May, realizing who she was speaking with dropped to a bow. "Forgive me Lord."

"No, child," said the flame. "Rise. You have sacrificed yourself for not only the good of your people, but in your hour of need you did not pray for yourself, but for your enemy. That is a true heart, one I won't take from this Earth before it's time. I have granted your prayers. Thunder will make amends."

"But will he find a way to love himself after what he has done?" asked May. "That was my prayer, as well."

"It will take some time, but he will. Thank you, May, for showing me the true human spirit. If there is anything I can do for you, you need only ask."

"Well there is one thing," May said, chewing on her finger.

The flame chuckled. "And what is that child?"

"My friends, Emerald, Diamond and the other angels, have been given the black feature in error," explained May.

"What black feature?" said the flame before slowly dying out.

Emerald was the first to rise to his feet. May ran to examine his wings. The black feather was gone. She looked to the other angels, all had pristine white wings again.

"We are forever in your debt," said Emerald. "How can we ever repay you?"

"No need," said May. "I'm just glad everyone is alright."

"Well we can't leave it at that can we," said Emerald to his fellow angels.

As if on cue, the angels sang and flowers upon flowers, covered the Earth.
