The Amethyst Heart ~ Part 3

Miss some? Here are Part 1 and Part 2.

"But the ball is tonight!" exclaimed February. "I'll never be ready in time."

"Oh my dear, February, never fret. You have your very own fairy godmother, of sorts. I'll have you ready in a jiffy." Cupid placed his chubby finger against his cheek. "Now if only I can remember the magical words."

Crispin chirped and Cupid shook his head. "No, it's not bibbidi bobbidi boo. That phrase belongs to my great aunt. She'd turn me into a toad if I used it."

"How about abracadabra?" asked February. "I've heard that one used before."

"Only by human magicians, who really have no magic at all. Unless you call deceit a magical power. Hey everyone," Cupid mocked in a dull human voice, "watch me make this elephant disappear." He shook his head. "Who wants to make an elephant disappear anyway? They're magnificent creatures in their own right. It really is absurd..."

"Excuse me, Cupid," said February. "I hate to rush you, but we're running out of time."

"Ahh... yes, let me see." He eyeballed February, moving his fingers in little circles and smile. "I remember, it's: Roses are red, Violets are blue, Give this girl a dress that'll turn Jack Frost's head."

Crispin chirped harshly at Cupid, who placed his hands on his hips.

"Not everything has to rhyme to work, that's so cliché, just look."

Crispin looked at his friend. February was surrounded by twinkle lights as her green day gown turned into a dark purple ball gown. The roses in her hair, turned a light lavender, as the hair was swept up in a delicate updo.

"You look lovely," said Cupid, as Crispin let loose a wolf whistle.

February twirled around in the new garment. "Oh, Cupid, it's so beautiful. There's no way Jack will ignore me now."

"Just one more thing." Cupid rushed to the sky and snatched a cloud, before grabbing one of Jack's icicles and plucking a rose from February's hair.  Squishing the ingredients together he said, "Roses are red, Violets are blue, the Amethyst heart I give to you."

Crispin chirped at Cupid in a mocking tone.

"Ok," said Cupid, "so that one rhymed. Do you have to be so techinical?"

"Cupid?" February pointed to the Amethyst heart necklace that now sat in Cupid's hand.

"Yes, February, you must wear this necklace and don't lose it. For if you do, Jack will freeze you for all time."
