My mind raced as I rummaged through my locker. Who had taken that picture? I racked my brain trying to remember when I had worn the black sports bra and red panties, cursing myself for not wearing my day of the week underwear.

"So you're running for Harvest Queen? Thanks for telling your best friend."

I looked at Amber. "Did you do this?"

"Do what?" she asked looking into my locker.

"Sign me up for Harvest Queen? Make that poster of me in my skivvies?"

"Are you telling me you didn't?" Her eyes widened.

"No, I didn't." I shut my locker. "And now I'm in the cross-hairs of Chelsea. I'm not even sure why she's mad, it's not like I'll win."

"I wouldn't be so sure," said Amber. "I heard Jamie, telling Corbin that the entire basketball and lacrosse teams are voting for you. And Kimberly Jensen told me this morning that you have the complete support of the chess club, astronomy club, and theater club."

"Awesome, so I've basically brought together all the loners in the world. Maybe I should run for president? If I can get those clubs united imagine what I could do for the republicans and democrats."

Amber's face went blank.

"Never mind, " I said, concluding why America was slipping in school ranks. "I don't even care about the dance, I'm trying to figure out who took those pictures and signed me up."

I shifted my books, causing a red envelope to fall to the floor. Amber picked it up. "What's this?"

"I don't know," I said, grabbing it from her and slicing the envelope open with my finger. "Let's find out."

Enclosed was a single note: Want to know why I did it? Meet me under the bleachers at lunch.

To be continued....
